ASAP in Vancouver: A Celebration of Music, Memories, and Filipino Pride

On October 18, 2025, the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver came alive with the vibrant energy of ASAP (All-Star Sunday Afternoon Party), the longest-running Sunday musical and variety show in the Philippines. This grand celebration marked not only the 30th anniversary of The Filipino Channel (TFC) but also three incredible decades of ASAP — a show that has brought world-class performances, joy, and inspiration to millions of Filipinos worldwide.

A Celebration Beyond Borders

Thousands of fans filled the iconic venue for two spectacular shows — the first from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm, and the second from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Both were sold out long before the big day, a true testament to the unwavering love and support of Filipino communities across Canada and beyond.

It wasn’t just a concert; it was a homecoming of hearts. Fans from other countries even traveled to Vancouver to witness their favorite artists perform live. The stage radiated with lights, rhythm, and emotion as more than 30 of the Philippines’ most talented performers sang, danced, and connected with their kababayans abroad.

A Personal Journey Through Time

I grew up watching ASAP when it was launched in 1995,” I reflected with a smile. “And 30 years later, the show is still alive — getting bigger, brighter, and more beautiful — with more artists joining the stage.

As a TFC subscriber, watching ASAP every Sunday has always been our little ritual of joy. Even when life takes us on vacations or road trips, we make sure to record the show for later viewing, because it has always felt like home — a connection to our roots, our music, and our shared stories.

A Night of Light and Legacy

Seeing the artists perform live was nothing short of magical. Their voices filled the air with nostalgia, their energy electrified the crowd, and their passion reminded every Filipino why ASAP remains a timeless celebration of artistry and unity.

Thanksgiving isn’t just about the food — it’s about togetherness, gratitude, and the quiet joy of being with someone who makes life feel full. This year, our celebration was small — just the two of us — but it was enough to remind us that love doesn’t need a crowd to feel complete.

A Table Full of Stories and Flavors

Our Thanksgiving table was simple yet beautiful — a humble feast that spoke of comfort and care. We served roasted chicken, smoked turkey, and a spread of Filipino delicacies and desserts we lovingly bought to make the day special. The seafoods, however, were home-cooked with love, their aroma filling the room with warmth and memories. Each dish carried a quiet story — of shared dreams, laughter, and the sweet peace of being home together.

 A Celebration of Gratitude

As we sat beside each other, the room felt calm, yet our hearts were overflowing. There was no noise, no rush — just soft conversations, gentle smiles, and a deep sense of contentment. Thanksgiving reminded us that gratitude isn’t measured by how many gather around the table, but by how deeply we feel the blessings that already surround us.

In every bite and every shared glance, there was thankfulness — for love that endures, for peace that stays, and for the unspoken promise that we’ll always have each other.

Thanksgiving this year wasn’t grand — but it was solemn, blissful and full of heart. It reminded us that love isn’t measured by numbers; it’s felt in the small gestures — the way we cook for each other, laugh over dessert, or hold hands in silence.

Sometimes, the most beautiful celebrations are the simplest ones — when you realize that the person sitting beside you is already your home.

We may not have had a crowded table, but our hearts were full — overflowing with gratitude, memories, and love that will last far beyond the season.
