Holy Week 2026: A Hopeful Journey to the Heart of Hope

There are journeys that take you far, and there are journeys that take you deeper within. This Holy Week 2026, our trip to Hope became both.

We arrived on Good Friday, April 3, after a quiet two-hour drive from home. As we entered Hope, known as the gateway to the interior, the atmosphere immediately shifted. The town welcomed us with calmness, as if inviting us to slow down, reflect, and listen.

Hope is famously known as the chainsaw carving capital of Canada, and everywhere we looked, stories were carved into wood. Each sculpture felt alive, shaped with patience and passion. It was amazing to see how art can turn something ordinary into something deeply meaningful. It reminded me that life, too, is shaped by the hands of time, trials, and faith.

This small town also carries a piece of cinematic history as the filming location of Rambo: First Blood. Yet beyond its fame, what truly captivated us was its simplicity. No towering skyscrapers. No overwhelming noise. Just a peaceful town embraced by mountains, offering a breathtaking 360-degree view from downtown. It felt like standing in the center of God’s creation.

A Walk Through Reflection

On Black Saturday, April 4, we explored the heart of Hope on foot. Each step felt unhurried, intentional.

A quiet Holy Week in Hope, where mountains stand still and the heart finds peace in every step.

We walked through Hope Memorial Park, where the stillness of nature gently quieted our thoughts. From there, we passed by the Friendship Garden, a Japanese-inspired space that radiated peace and harmony. It was a place where silence spoke louder than words.

We visited Hope Catholic Church for a moment of reflection. It felt sacred and still. It was a pause our hearts needed, a chance to reconnect, and to remember the true meaning of Holy Week.

Along the mighty Fraser, we found stories carved in wood, written in history, and reflected in moments we’ll always treasure.

Our walk led us to Fort Hope National Historic Site of Canada, resting quietly along the Fraser River and overlooking Greenwood Island. Standing there, I felt the weight of history and the flow of time, just like the river that never stops moving. It reminded me that life continues, but we must choose how we live it.

Joy in Simple Moments

That afternoon, we drove to Kawkawa Lake, just minutes from town. The scene was full of life. Families gathered for picnics, children laughed and played, and the lake reflected the surrounding mountains like a perfect mirror.

Kawkawa Lake, where still waters, laughter, and simple joys made the day quietly unforgettable.

People enjoyed kayaking, stand-up paddling, boating, jet skiing, and fishing. Yet even with all the activity, there was a sense of peace. It was a reminder that joy often lives in simple, shared moments.

A Journey Toward Renewal

On Easter Sunday, we continued our journey home, but not without one last stop. We hiked to Flood Falls.

The trail took us almost an hour to complete, both ways. It was a good cardio exercise, but more than that, it was a walk toward renewal. As we reached the falls, the sound of rushing water filled the air, washing away stress and worry.

Beneath the flowing falls, we paused, felt renewed, and carried a quiet peace within us.

We have always loved waterfalls. There is something about them that speaks to the soul. The constant flow, the strength, the beauty. It reminds us to keep moving forward, to trust the journey, and to keep exploring the places where we feel most alive.

A Holy Week to Remember

Hope, British Columbia, gave us more than a weekend escape. It gave us a space for self-renewal, a spiritual retreat, and a deeper appreciation of God’s wonderful creation.

In the quiet streets, in the carved wood, in the flowing river, and in the falling water, we found something we often miss in our busy lives. Peace. Gratitude. Presence.

This Holy Week was not just about traveling to a place. It was about returning to what truly matters.

And sometimes, all it takes is a small town named Hope to remind us of that.

Del Make it Happen.

ASAP in Vancouver: A Celebration of Music, Memories, and Filipino Pride

On October 18, 2025, the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver came alive with the vibrant energy of ASAP (All-Star Sunday Afternoon Party), the longest-running Sunday musical and variety show in the Philippines. This grand celebration marked not only the 30th anniversary of The Filipino Channel (TFC) but also three incredible decades of ASAP — a show that has brought world-class performances, joy, and inspiration to millions of Filipinos worldwide.

A Celebration Beyond Borders

Thousands of fans filled the iconic venue for two spectacular shows — the first from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm, and the second from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Both were sold out long before the big day, a true testament to the unwavering love and support of Filipino communities across Canada and beyond.

It wasn’t just a concert; it was a homecoming of hearts. Fans from other countries even traveled to Vancouver to witness their favorite artists perform live. The stage radiated with lights, rhythm, and emotion as more than 30 of the Philippines’ most talented performers sang, danced, and connected with their kababayans abroad.

A Personal Journey Through Time

I grew up watching ASAP when it was launched in 1995,” I reflected with a smile. “And 30 years later, the show is still alive — getting bigger, brighter, and more beautiful — with more artists joining the stage.

As a TFC subscriber, watching ASAP every Sunday has always been our little ritual of joy. Even when life takes us on vacations or road trips, we make sure to record the show for later viewing, because it has always felt like home — a connection to our roots, our music, and our shared stories.

A Night of Light and Legacy

Seeing the artists perform live was nothing short of magical. Their voices filled the air with nostalgia, their energy electrified the crowd, and their passion reminded every Filipino why ASAP remains a timeless celebration of artistry and unity.

It wasn’t just about the performances; it was about belonging, about celebrating how far we’ve come as a community. There was laughter, cheers, and moments when tears of joy quietly fell. It felt like every beat of the drum echoed the Filipino spirit — resilient, joyful, and full of light.

A Soulful Realization

As the lights dimmed and the curtain closed, I carried home a beautiful truth that resonated deeply within me:

We are stars of our own lives, and no one can dim the light that shines from within. And we live to inspire and share the light with others.

That night reminded me that every person in the audience — every dreamer, every migrant, every soul far from home — is also part of this constellation of light. Just like the artists on stage, we, too, shine in our own unique ways.

Del Make It Happen

ASAP in Vancouver wasn’t just a concert; it was a celebration of identity, resilience, and joy. It rekindled my love for music, deepened my Filipino pride, and reminded me of why I share stories like this—to inspire others to live fully, celebrate meaningfully, and let their light shine wherever they are.

Because no matter where life takes us, the music of home always finds its way back to our hearts.

Taves Family Farms Pumpkin Patch: A Heartfelt Fall Adventure in the Fraser Valley

🍁 A Season of Gratitude and Golden Memories

There’s something magical about the Fall Season— that brief moment when the world slows down, and the leaves whisper that change can be beautiful. This year, we embraced that feeling at Taves Family Farms in Abbotsford, a place where fall dreams come alive among pumpkin fields and heartfelt laughter.

For us, it wasn’t just another trip — it was a gentle reminder that life’s sweetest moments are found in the simplest things: the warmth of a smile, the crunch of leaves beneath our feet.

The Joy of the Pumpkin Patch

There’s something timeless about a pumpkin patch — a place where joy feels pure and unfiltered. We walked between the long winding rows, our shoes crunching softly against the soil.

Each pumpkin seemed to tell a story — some were big and bold, others small and perfectly imperfect. We didn’t rush. We searched, we laughed, we pointed and smiled. And somewhere in that field of orange and gold, we found not just pumpkins, but joy.

Because the truth is, the best part of a pumpkin patch isn’t taking one home — it’s the moment you find your pumpkin, the one that feels like it was waiting just for you.

A Day to Remember

We saw families taking photos, couples holding hands, and friends helping each other lift the biggest pumpkins they could find. There was something heartwarming about it — watching people come together, sharing laughter and connection in a world that often moves too fast.

Under the soft autumn sun, I realized that days like this remind us what really matters: presence, laughter, and love. You don’t need grand adventures to feel alive — sometimes, it’s enough to stand in a pumpkin field, smile at the sky, and be thankful for another beautiful season.

Capturing Golden Moments

Under the bright midday sun, the pumpkin patch transformed into a canvas of light and warmth. The glow of the orange pumpkins reflected against the golden sky, and everything looked like a painting come to life.

We paused to take photos, not for perfection — but for memory. Because someday, when the seasons change again, we’ll look back at those pictures and remember how it felt: peaceful, joyful, alive.

The Lesson of the Pumpkin Patch

Our day at Taves Family Farms reminded us of something profound — that life, like the seasons, is ever-changing. And just like the pumpkins waiting quietly in the field, the best things in life often take time to grow.

So as the season turns and the leaves begin to fall, may we all remember to pause, breathe, and be thankful — for the people beside us, for the beauty around us, and for the journey we’re on.

Because sometimes, success isn’t about what we achieve — it’s about what we feel. And this fall, we felt full of love, laughter, and life.

Apple Picking at Taves Family Farms: A Soulful Autumn Escape

There’s something magical about a cool autumn morning at Taves Family Farms — the kind where the air carries the scent of apples and the ground crunches softly beneath your feet. Walking hand in hand through the rows of trees, you can feel time slow down, as if nature itself invites you to pause and savor every moment.

That’s what this day was all about — not just picking apples, but collecting memories.

Choosing Our Apples: Alkemene and Honeycrisp

Among the nine apple varieties at Taves, we were drawn to two — Alkemene and Honeycrisp. Each one had its own charm.

The Alkemene apples shimmered beneath the morning sun — golden-red, fragrant, and full of life. Their sweet and tangy flavor felt bright and refreshing, the kind that awakens your senses with every bite. The Honeycrisp, meanwhile, was autumn’s tender gift — juicy, delicate, and filled with the comforting warmth of the season.

Reaching for each apple felt symbolic — like we were gathering little moments of joy, storing them not just in our baskets but in our hearts.

The Farm Experience

Every step through Taves Family Farms felt like stepping into a living postcard of autumn. The orchard stretched endlessly, its rows glowing under the golden light. Families laughed softly in the distance, little ones holding their basket filled with freshly picked apples. Couples strolled quietly between the trees, their smiles as warm as the afternoon sun.

There was a sense of calm in the air — that kind of peace you can’t find in the city. The gentle hum of the tractor, the rustling of leaves, and the sweet scent of apples blended together like a melody of the season. It reminded us that life’s truest happiness often hides in the simplest places — in shared laughter, in muddy shoes, and in baskets brimming with nature’s gifts.

The Farm Store & Taves Estate Cidery

Before heading home, we wandered into the Farm Store, and it felt like stepping into the heart of the season. Wooden shelves overflowed with jars of jam and farm fresh pre-picked apples,  — all crafted with love and care.

We also entered the Estate Cidery, where the charm of the farm meets the sparkle of celebration. Rows of bottles caught the afternoon light, glimmering like autumn gold. Among them, we found our choice— a Classic Apple Sparkling Cider. We took a bottle home, though part of us wished we had opened it right there in the orchard, raising a toast beneath the same trees where the apples had grown.

There was something poetic about it — how every bottle held not just cider, but the spirit of the farm itself: warm, simple, and full of joy.

 Reflections from the Orchard

As the sun dipped low beyond the orchard, the world grew quieter — softer somehow. The rows of trees stood still, their branches heavy with the day’s stories. I paused for a moment, letting the cool breeze brush against my face, and I felt a kind of peace words can hardly describe.

There was something sacred in that silence. Between the fading light and the scent of apples, I realized how life keeps reminding us to slow down — to hold the people we love a little longer, to breathe in the moment before it slips away. Because one day, these simple days… will be the ones we’ll miss the most.

As we walked away from the orchard, baskets full and hearts even fuller, I looked back one last time. The sky glowed in gold, and I whispered to myself — this is what it means to truly live. Not in grand plans or perfect days, but in moments like this — quiet, fleeting, and full of meaning.

Birthday Camping Adventure at Vedder River Campground in Fraser Valley

Birthdays are meant to be remembered, and this year, we chose to celebrate mine not in the noise of the city, but in the embrace of nature. Vedder River Campground in Chilliwack, Fraser Valley became our little haven—a place where time slowed down, laughter echoed by the river, and love glowed as brightly as the campfire.

🏕️ Setting Up by the River

When we arrived, the crisp air carried the scent of pine and flowing water. The river hummed softly in the background as we pitched our tent, each stake pressed firmly into the earth, grounding us in gratitude. It felt like we weren’t just setting up camp—we were preparing for a Fraser Valley camping trip filled with memories that would last a lifetime.

🔥Fish Grilling, Campfire Stories & S'mores

As evening fell, the fire came alive. Flames flickered, sparks floated into the night, and the warmth of the campfire wrapped around us. For dinner, fish sizzled over glowing charcoal, its rustic aroma blending with the crisp evening air. When plates were cleared, the night sweetened with roasted marshmallows—soft, golden, and perfect for s’mores. Laughter rose with every crackle of the fire, making this camping at Vedder River Campground at its finest—simple, magical, and unforgettable.

“Grilled fish, campfire warmth, and unforgettable moments at Vedder River Campground.

The river’s quiet song in the distance and the starlit sky above made the night even more special. It wasn’t just about the food or the fire—it was about the moments shared, the warmth of togetherness, and the kind of memories that stay long after the firelight faded.

🌌 A Birthday Under the Stars

Instead of birthday candles, the universe gifted us a sky filled with stars. I whispered wishes beneath constellations that seemed to shine just for us. The night felt sacred, as if every twinkling light was a blessing, reminding us how small yet significant our lives are in the vastness of the universe.

🌅 Sunrise Walks & River Adventures

Every morning, we took our sunrise walk along the Vedder Rotary Trail. The air was crisp, the river mirrored the awakening sky, and the trail was alive with fitness enthusiasts—cyclists speeding by, runners finding their rhythm, and fellow walkers soaking in the morning calm. It was the perfect way to begin each day in the heart of the Fraser Valley.

“Sunrise walks, river moments, mountain views, and quiet mornings at Vedder River Campground.

Later in the day, we couldn’t resist the call of the water. We swam in the cool, clear Vedder River, letting its refreshing embrace renew our spirits. Around us, others engaged in various outdoor activities in Vedder River—rafting through the currents, gliding smoothly on kayaks, and casting fishing lines with patient anticipation. The river wasn’t just water; it was life, joy, and endless adventure.

🌄 Sunrise Reflections

Morning at Vedder River felt like a gentle awakening of the soul. The golden hues of the sky reflected on the water as we stood together, capturing memories with our lenses, our hearts filled with gratitude. These moments reminded us that life is best when lived slowly, intentionally, and together.

🧘‍♂️ Del Make it Happen

This Fraser Valley birthday camping adventure wasn’t about escape—it was about finding life again in the beauty of the river, the fire, and the stars above. The river whispered to us that life keeps moving, no matter what. The fire reminded us to keep burning, even when the night feels cold. The trail taught us that every step—big or small—carries us forward. And the simple sweetness of roasted marshmallows showed us that joy is found in the little things.

But it was the stars that stirred something deep within me. Looking up, I felt both so small and so infinite at the same time. And in that silence, I realized: every year we are given, every sunrise we witness, every laugh we share—it’s all a fragile miracle.

When we packed up to leave Vedder River Campground, my heart was heavy, yet overflowing. I wanted to freeze time, to hold onto the sound of the river, the warmth of the fire, the trail beneath our feet, and the love beside me. Because one day, these will not just be memories—they will be treasures that no one can take away.

We don’t wait for tomorrow to live. Don’t wait for “someday” to chase what matters. Hug tighter, laugh louder, watch the sunrise, taste the sweetness, and look up at the stars with wonder. Because life is painfully short, yet breathtakingly beautiful.

And when your story is finally written, may it be so full of love and wonder that even the stars pause to weep.

From Harbour Breeze to Heritage Charm: Summer Farm Tour at London Farm in Steveston

🚗 A Sunny Weekend Drive Along Dyke Road

It was a warm, golden weekend midday when we set off for Steveston Village in Richmond. The sunny roadside trip along Dyke Road felt like the perfect start — the sparkling harbour on one side, the mountains standing tall in the distance, and summer waterfront breeze drifting through the open window.

Before reaching the farm, we stopped for an hour on the waterfront benches and pier along Dyke Road. The view was endlessly calming — boats gliding slowly past, the gentle hum of the water, and the occasional call of seabirds. It set the tone for a slow, beautiful day

🏡 First Glimpse of the Heritage Farmhouse

Arriving at London Heritage Farm, the first thing we saw was its elegant Edwardian-style heritage house, standing proudly as it has since the 1880s, when it was built by the London family. Once the heart of a working farm supplying food to the growing Steveston fishing village, it is now carefully preserved as a window into Richmond’s agricultural past.

🌸 Summer Blooms & Nature’s Soundtrack

The garden at London Heritage Farm is full of color and life. In the summer, bright flowers like roses, lavender, and sunflowers bloom in every corner. The paths are lined with green plants, and butterflies flutter from one flower to another. You can hear birds chirping in the trees and feel a gentle breeze as you walk through. The garden is peaceful and well cared for, with benches where you can sit and enjoy the view. It’s a lovely place to relax, take photos, or simply enjoy the serenity.

🐴 The Barn: Simple and Peaceful

On the edge of the property stood the barn, a rustic reminder of the farm’s working days. Even now, its weathered wood holds the stories of harvests, hard work, and the hum of farm life in decades past.

❤️ A Place That Belongs to Everyone

London Heritage Farm is more than a historical site — it’s a community treasure. Volunteers maintain the gardens, host seasonal events, and welcome guests year-round. The farm connects generations, offering educational programs, tea services, and a space for reflection and celebration.

Its significance lies in its ability to preserve Richmond’s history while remaining a vibrant part of its present.

🤔 Reflections on the day

As we left the farm in the warmth of midday sun, the scent of summer blooms still lingered in the air and the gentle sounds of birdsong echoed behind us. The heritage house, the vibrant flower garden, and the peaceful rhythm of the waterfront had offered more than just a visit — they gave us a moment to reconnect with nature, history, and the joy of slowing down.

London Heritage Farm reminded us that beauty lives in the simple things: a quiet bench by the harbour, a garden in full bloom, and stories preserved in time. It’s a place that invites you to pause, reflect, and appreciate the richness of your surroundings.

If you’re seeking a weekend escape that nourishes the soul and inspires the senses, this little corner of Steveston is waiting to welcome you — just as it did us.

Summer Stroll at Steveston Harbour Waterfront: Discover History, Nature & Community

There’s something magical about Steveston Harbour in the summertime.Tucked into the southwestern edge of Richmond, British Columbia, this historic fishing village offers more than just postcard-perfect views—it’s a place where heritage, nature, and community spirit come together in the most beautiful way.

🌤️ Sunshine and Summer Breezes

Our stroll began under a vibrant blue sky, with the sun warming our shoulders and a gentle breeze whispering through the trees. The air carried the scent of saltwater and cedar, and the rhythmic sound of waves lapping against the docks set the tone for a peaceful, soul-refreshing walk. It was the kind of summer day that invites you to slow down and savor every moment.

🚴‍♀️ Fitness on the Waterfront

As we made our way along Dyke Road, we passed a steady stream of cyclists—some in sleek gear, others on vintage cruisers—gliding along the waterfront road. Joggers and walkers enjoy the sandy terrain and panoramic views of the harbour. The waterfront is clearly a favorite among fitness enthusiasts who find inspiration in the open sky and flowing river.

🎣 Fishing and River Life

At the pier, a few fishermen cast their lines into the Fraser River, hopeful for a catch. Large fishing vessels glided on the water while sleek speedboats zipped past, creating frothy wakes and waves that sparkled in the sunlight. It was a harmonious blend of industry and leisure, all moving in sync with the rhythm of the river.

🪑 Benches with a View

Along the harbour are benches placed for quiet reflection. We found a good one and sat for a while while sipping a cold drink and watching the boats drift by. The view was mesmerizing—fishing boats sailing through the harbour, birds soaring high above, and the distant mountains and Islands. It was a moment of stillness in a place that never stops moving.

A summer stroll at Steveston Harbour isn’t just a walk—it’s an experience. It’s history you can touch, nature you can breathe, and community you can feel. If you haven’t been, make it your next destination. And if you have, you already know: Steveston stays with you long after you leave.

From Farm to Bucket: Our First Standing Strawberry U-Pick Adventure at Maan Farms

There’s something about a warm day, fresh berries in the air, and vast open fields that sparks pure happiness. Although it wasn’t officially summer, the sunshine and cheerful energy made it feel like the season had already arrived in spirit. This past weekend, we soaked up that pre-summer glow with our very first Standing Strawberry U-Pick adventure at the beloved Maan Farms —and it turned out to be one of those days that sticks with you.

From the moment we arrived, we were clearly stepping into something special. Neat rows of vibrant strawberry plants stretched across the landscape, each dotted with juicy red gems waiting to be picked. But what really struck us wasn’t just the beauty of the berries—it was the heart behind it all. We saw the Maan family themselves, hands-on in the operations, greeting visitors with warm smiles in their farm store. It was genuine and added such a personal, welcoming touch to the experience. You don’t just feel like a customer at Maan Farms—you feel like family.

Strawberry fields forever… or at least 'til the basket’s full! 🧺🍓

Aside from the berries, the experience truly stood out. The Standing Strawberry U-Pick setup was made possible through hydroponic farming that uses less water and minimizes soil erosion. The elevated rows, grown without soil using a nutrient-rich water system, made it incredibly easy to move through the fields. No crouching, no muddy knees—just clean paths, comfortable picking, and strawberries so fresh they practically sparkled in the sun. It felt more like a peaceful garden walk than a harvest, and each berry we picked felt like a tiny summer gem, waiting to be discovered.

Of course, we capped off our U-Pick haul with a visit to the farm store—because how could you say no to an additional bucket of the finest and freshest strawberries in produce? We also cooled down with their delicious ice cream, a real treat that hit the spot in the warm weather. And just when we thought it couldn’t get any sweeter, we tried their chocolate strawberry pot—a sweet delight that tasted like summer romance in a cup.

Summer sweetness at Maan Farms 🍓✨—fresh strawberries, rustic charm, and cozy vibes all wrapped into one delightful visit.

Our visit to Maan Farms wasn’t just a day in the fields. It was a moment of connection with nature, community, and the passionate people behind the farm. We’re already dreaming of next year’s summer U-Pick—because once you've tasted a day this sweet, it’s impossible not to return for more.

A Journey Through Time at Britannia Shipyards in Steveston

Britannia Shipyards is a captivating blend of history and natural beauty on the Fraser River. The Shipyards offer an immersive experience, with restored buildings that tell the stories of the fishing community. Walking through the shipyard, you can almost hear the echoes of the past, from the clanging of tools to the stories of those who lived and worked there. It's a living museum, perfect for history enthusiasts and curious wanderers alike.

Britannia Shipyards, which began in the 1880s as a cannery and evolved over the years, ceased operations as a shipyard in the early 1980s. Today, it stands as a National Historic Site, meticulously preserved to offer visitors a glimpse into its rich history and cultural significance.

Chinese Bunkhouse

Initially built for Chinese workers, the Chinese Bunkhouse showcases their crucial role in the fishing industry. Despite facing discrimination and harsh conditions, they contributed significantly to Steveston's economy. The bunkhouse stands as a testament to their enduring spirit and community life.

The Chinese Bunkhouse features narrow, double-decked sleeping quarters, simple wooden furnishings, and functional communal areas. Original artifacts like tools, cooking utensils, and personal belongings paint a vivid picture of daily life and a strong sense of community among the workers.

The Chinese workers faced discrimination, including lower wages compared to other workers, segregated living conditions, and limited rights. Despite their crucial contributions, they were subjected to racism and exclusion, reflecting the harsh social inequalities of the era.

It's inspiring to know that many descendants of the Chinese Canadians who lived in the bunkhouse are still in British Columbia, contributing to the province's cultural richness. They've integrated into various communities, honoring their heritage through cultural events and associations and sharing stories of their ancestors' resilience.

Seine Net Loft

Walking through the Seine Net Loft illuminated the scale of the fishing industry with its massive equipment and tales of hard work.

Located in the heart of Britannia Shipyards, the Seine Net Loft, constructed by the skilled workers of the local fishing industry in the 1950s, stands as a testament to Steveston's rich fishing heritage. This historic structure played a role in the evolution of fishing technology and remains a vibrant part of the community's history and culture.

Today, families and their children can embark on an exciting journey through interactive exhibits like "Our Coastal Connection" and "Our Changing Waterfront." These exhibits bring the history of Britannia Shipyards to life in a way that's both educational and entertaining.

The Murakami House

The Murakami House in Steveston is a significant cultural landmark, reflecting the history and contributions of the Japanese-Canadian community in the area.

The Murakami House belonged to the Murakami family, which consisted of Japanese-Canadian fishermen in Steveston. The house has been preserved to reflect the family's living conditions and lifestyle, providing a glimpse into the community's history. It features artifacts, photographs, and displays that tell their story.

I've learned that many descendants of the Japanese-Canadian families who once worked at Britannia Shipyards still live in British Columbia, with some in the Richmond area, preserving their heritage and contributing to the community in various fields.

Stilt Houses

Exploring the stilt houses transported me to a time when the river was a central part of daily life. The colorful exteriors of these homes added a touch of vibrancy to the scenery.

The Stilt Houses are iconic homes built on wooden stilts along the Fraser River. Initially, they housed workers from the fishing and canning industries. Today, they offer a vibrant glimpse into the multicultural community life of early settlers, preserved as part of the national historic site.

A stroll along the Fraser River capped off the day with the sight of families enjoying the Family Day celebrations by the water, a heartwarming reminder of community spirit. Steveston is a treasure trove of history and stories, and I want to explore more!

Our visit to Britannia Shipyards was a walk in history, in the footsteps of fishermen, boatbuilders, and their families. The blend of preserved buildings, interactive exhibits, and tranquil waterfront views creates a connection to the past while imagining its future.
